The pandemic

The COVID-19 worldwide pandemic has hit the world as we knew it and our community incredibly hard. If you watch the news daily as we do, it seems obvious that there is no fast end of the pandemic and the restrictions which came with it in sight.

As an event and as responsible people in our community we need to act and come to viable and reliable conclusions way ahead of future events happening. We think it is our responsibility to analyze the situation, to evaluate responsibly if Berlin Salsacongress 2020 can go ahead as planned and to draw the respective conclusions.

Bringing people together

From the beginning, Berlin Salsacongress’s mission has been to bring people together in one spot from all over the world to share our passion for dancing. We are an extremely international event with attendees from literally all continents. It is highly doubtful that in autumn flights will be fully resumed and our attendees – and artists for that matter – will be able to cross borders to attend such an international event, and more importantly if they can do so without being forced into quarantine either here or in their home country. Not to forget, that any restictions previously lifted can be brought back into place at any given time.

Additionally, all over the world we have restrictions for gatherings the size of Berlin Salsacongress and it is far from certain if they will be lifted before October in Germany  as well as in any other part of the world.

We also noticed and we understand that many dancers are hesitant when considering travelling to a large event and they have concerns regarding their health and safety.

As organizers we are used to face risks and uncertainty, but for this year the odds seem unpredictable due to the pandemic and the responses of our governments to that situation.

Berlin Salsacongress 2020 will be postponed to 2021

We have therefore regretfully decided to postpone the Berlin Salsacongress 2020 to the next year, to October 2021. The event will be held the same dates in 2021 with the structure as planned and with the line up as much as possible remaining the same. More details on that will follow very soon, please allow us some time to sort everything out and to keep you up to date.

What does this mean for the pass I already purchased for 2020?

At Berlin Salsacongress we believe in giving our customers options to suite their individual situation and needs. So we will offer you a variety of options.

1) By default, all passes will be automatically passed on to the 2021 edition. That refers to all types of passes including bootcamp passes and performer passes. All passes are applicable to free change of names until September 1, 2021 if you can not make it in 2021. Additionally, each attendee who accepts their pass to be moved to 2021 will receive a voucher/gift card with a value of 20€ (if paid less than 120€ for their pass) or 30€ (if paid more than 120€). Those vouchers are not personal, they can be given to your friends, or they can be used for yourself, for any product of Berlin Salsacongress and they can be redeemed from October 15, 2020 until October 15, 2023 or for 3 years.

If you accept the default option, you do not need to do anything. You will receive a new E-Ticket in July 2020 and you will get your voucher(s)/gift card(s) at the end of June 2020.

2) If you prefer to be flexible in the future, if you are not sure as of now if you will be able to attend in 2021, you can choose to convert the value of your pass(es) (the full amount you paid less payment fees) in a voucher/gift card.

Those vouchers are not personal, they can be given to your friends, or they can be used for yourself, for any product of Berlin Salsacongress and they can be redeemed from October 15, 2020 until October 15, 2023 or for 3 years.

If you were to choose this option you need to let us know until June 15, 2020 by dropping us an email to support@berlinsalsacongress.co with a clear statement that you would like to convert your pass into a voucher/gift card.

3) If you had purchased a Dance & Fun Pass you may also opt to keep your Dance & Fun Pass and use it for Berlin Salsacongress – Global edition (see below) happening this year at the same dates as this Pass covers similar services to the originally purchased one. If you choose to join Berlin Salsacongress – Global edition you will even have included the Thursday Party (was not included previously) and even more hours of party than before.

If you were to choose this option you need to let us know until June 15, 2020 by dropping us an email to support@berlinsalsacongress.co with a clear statement that you would like to use your Dance & Fun Pass for the Berlin Salsacongress – Global edition.

4) If your situation allows you this, if you are still in a permanent and well-paid job, and you can afford this, you can also opt to donate your pass to Berlin Salsacongress. The current situation has brought all organizers in a very difficult (financial) situation, and every donation helps to make sure that in future we all will still have dance events to attend

If you were to choose this option you need to let us know until June 15, 2020 by dropping us an email to support@berlinsalsacongress.co with a clear statement that you would like to donate your pass.

Asking for your understanding

We know that you are disappointed, so are we. We have been working for this event for many months and we put our heart and passion into this. We hope that you appreciate the options we offer you and we appreciate your understanding.
