We appreciate your effort and time to give us feedback. Your feedback allows us to continously improve and develop our event. We listen to you and we take your feedback very serious.
In general we got a very positive feedback. We received 160 responses to the online form and almost 50 emails with more detailled feedback.
Our online feedback form is designed so that it can be completed in maximum of 3 minutes. Therefore most responses are multiple choice, and the form features almost no text fields.
Responses should be comparable and we want to be able to draw easily numbers and compare them with previous and following years.
Possible responses which are unrealistic or are not up for a debate are by default and deliberately not included.
We have a clear vision where we are heading to with our event. This vision is defined by and outlined in our key values. All our decisions are made against the background of those key values and our vision. You can find our key values here.
Our taglines represent our mission in various forms. It is worth to read and understand them to be able to put what we do in the correct context.
*No one ever made the difference by being like everybody else* - we want to be different than other events and we are proud to be different. If you expect us to be like other events, you might be disappointed.
*Making the difference. Every time.* - we aim to set standards in our industry and community. Every year the event will be different and you will have a different experience.
*We are all ONE FAMILY. Whereever we are.* - we are part of a worldwide family. Our event is by default inclusive and we want to represent the different parts of our worldwide latin family.
It is important to understand that all our decisions are based on numbers and evidence. We gather, analyze and evaluate data of our events already for many years. We have numbers to most relevant parts of our events. We are able to compare numbers of different years, predict likely events and to weigh in and classify relevant decisions. Sometimes we run extensive surveys to get more data about what our attendees want.
We are in intense talks with the venue. The situation with the water being sold at the bars and being able to bring your own, empty bottles inside will be improved. Promised 100%! Details will be clear by the end of 2023. That includes better communication and agreements with the security
The Sunday party is too short, in particular if you also want to watch the shows. The party will be extended until 1:00am.
We acknowledge that there were not enough racks for the shoe bags and not enough lockers in the Big Arena. We will have more in 2024.
We understand that it is vital for many to understand clearly if a workshop is taught on1 or on2 and which style/content they will be teaching.
We are currently negociating to get a bigger workshop room for the Friday afternoon workshops in the Mövenpick. That would double the capacity there.
We will provide stages for the instructors in Foyer and Sportshall for better visibility. Such stage doesn´t make sense in Mövenpick, as the ceiling is too low.
On our website you find now links to the instagram profile of each instructor and a clear label which style they are teaching.
We will provide a number fans for the room "restaurant" in the Tempodrom.
We all noticed big lines of ladies waiting to dance. Looking at the numbers we have from the sales - we had 54% ladies and 46% gentleman. Maybe Saturday night a bit more ladies as we sold single party tickets. That is 11 female for 9 male on the dance floor.
Obviously that can´t create such a visible problem.
All those who call for action - keep in mind that action basically can only mean to restrict the access to the ladies. And if you call for that, remember there is a chance it could be you who will be kept out in order to keep the balance.
However, we believe that that won`t change the situation on the dance floor anyway. The thing is that obviously most ladies do not want to dance with any random guy, they want to dance with very specific guys. This desire is absolutely legit and nothing bad about it. But it leads to approx. 300 ladies in front of the stage wanting to dance with the same 40-50 guys. Which apparently leads to long cues. And guys running to get a break or some water. So, even if the ratio was perfectly 50/50 - the ladies would still want to dance with those same 50 guys.
If you have a practical, feasible, inclusive, immediate solution for this - we are listening.
The ratio of wooden floor and not-wooden floor is a reflection of the needs of our attendees. In fact, many prefer to dance on the black floor. Some prefer wooden floor. We believe in giving options. We need to cater for both groups. Therefore we provide those floors for both needs.
All our numbers clearly show: 1/3 of our attendees and prospect attendees also dance Cuban Salsa. Cuban is part of our community and many of our Mambo dancers are extremely interested in widening their skill sets with cuban techniques and moves. That means we will build up the Cuban Salsa part step by step in the years to come. Needless to say that they will have their own Cuban floor at night.
In fact, going through all feedback, only a very small fraction support this opinion. On the other side there are many which came to us and congratulate us explicitely for finishing early.
Having all dancers and our artists on the dance floor at the same time and sharing this experience is part of our vision. In 2022 and in 2023 we had the best socials for a long time judging by the feedback of many.
We will continue with our concept of early socials. The reasons for finishing early we have published also here.
More seats or opportunities to sit would mean that we had less space for dancing. We believe having enough space for dancing is more relevant for most.
The relatively bright lighting is by purpose. We believe that when dancing, Salsa dancers need to see their partners, their hands and the people around them. Dark rooms are promoting accidents and dancers bumping into each other.
Big show programs require a lot of ressources and time. They mean that we can not use the Big Arena for social dancing. We rather decided to use the Big Arena for social dancing which is catering for most dancers. And to invest the ressources into a great line up, and offering you a great social dancing experience.
And. No shows = no tiers with seats needed = more space for dancing!
Kizomba and Sensual Bachata will not return to Berlin Salsacongress. Real Kizomba dancers or real Sensual dancers do not join a clearly labeled Salsa event. We believe we better invest the revenues we get from our Salsa attendees to make the Salsa community better.
The authorities in the contract only allow us for the Sportshall to let in 100 people. And they strictly control those numbers. Dancer #101 would be send home.
We hear you. It is true that the music in the Small Arena during the shows and sometimes at night was too loud. Equally the music from the Foyer does affect the workshops in the Small Arena. Noted.
Click the button, fill in the form and secure yourself the chance to WIN a FREE PASS. And if you are lucky, you can also win your hotel and flight to Berlin Salsacongress. Sounds as great as it is? It only takes 1minute!
